I am a Toronto based emerging interdisciplinary artist exploring painting, drawing and photography. My current body of work is in a transitional period from focusing on myself as a body and mind to expanding my practice to centre the cycle of life and death. Using a mixture of comforting and unsettling imagery I aim to discuss the beauty in decay and ageing, reflecting on the transient nature of life, and the unique experience of living and dying while sentient.
My history with mental illness and suicidal ideation has made death a comfort for me in the past, as an adult these feelings have passed but I am still eager to research and understand why I found such a comfort in dying when I was young. I aim to use my history to create safe discussions around this subject, where these fears originate, which aspects create discomfort and how death has personally influenced us.
Other concepts that influence my work include documenting casual snippets and scenes from my life, whether that be landscapes or studies of animals in as raw a form as I can.
